Pound Higher Against Other Majors

(RTTNews) - The British pound moved higher against other major currencies on Thursday in New York. The sterling gained slightly on the dollar and lingered near a weekly high against the euro. The pound also advanced versus the yen and franc.

The pound was slightly higher against the dollar amid uncertain trading. The sterling climbed to 2.0041 against the greenback in the early afternoon. On the economic front, the U.S. Department of Labor revealed that initial jobless claims came in at 366,000 for the week ended July 12.

The sterling was also little-changed against the euro and remained near the weekly high it touched on Wednesday. The pair moved at 0.7916 in the mid-morning. The Eurostat reported that construction output in Eurozone grew 0.2% month-on-month in May, recovering from a revised 0.6% fall recorded April.

The pound climbed to 211.89 against the yen and 2.0419 against the Swiss franc.
