Icelandic July CPI Inflation Above Forecast
(RTTNews) - The Icelandic consumer price index annual inflation rose to 13.6% in July from 12.7% in June, the Statistics Iceland reported Friday. Economists had expected the rate to come in at 13.2%.
Month-on-month, the rate of price rise remained unchanged at 0.9%, higher than the consensus forecast of 0.6%.
Year-on-year, the CPI less housing cost was up 13.2%. On a monthly basis, the index was up 0.87% in July, a tad higher than the 0.84% increase recorded in June.
In July, prices of new cars rose 5.3% and that of petrol and diesel oil by 2%. Food and beverages prices increased 2.2%. Meanwhile, prices of clothing and footwear dropped 11.6% amid summer sales.
For the three-month period to July, the CPI grew 3.2%.
