Belgium CPI Inflation decreases In August

(RTTNews) - Thursday, the Statistics Belgium said in its report that the Consumer Price Index or CPI rose 5.39% year-on-year in August, slower than the 5.9% rise recorded in July. The CPI inflation stood well below the 6% expected by economists.

During the month of August, prices of food increased 6.91% and that of non-food items up by 7.31%. Cost of services and rent charges rose 2.34% and 1.97% respectively.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined 0.61% in August, following a monthly growth of 0.53% in July.
