The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index [[^GSPC]] is down 1.7% to 1,330.63 this past week, extending its February decline to 3.5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average [[^DJI]] fell 0.9% to 12,266.39. Both indices are in their fourth month of losses, and this losing streak is the longest since 2002. The Nasdaq Composite Index [[^IXIC]] fell 1.4% to 2,271.48.

Financial stocks will be on the defensive this coming week as investors expect more bad news from the US housing sector.
