Hong Kong GDP Growth Quickens In Q1

(RTTNews) - Hong Kong’s Gross Domestic Product, or GDP, in real terms rose 7.1% year-on-year in the first quarter, slightly quicker than 6.9% growth seen in the fourth quarter of the previous year, the Census and Statistics Department said Friday. Quarter-on-quarter, the seasonally adjusted GDP grew 1.8%.

In the first quarter, private consumption expenditure grew 7.9% year-on-year in real terms. This is slower than the fourth quarter figure of 9.5%. Government consumption expenditure in national accounts terms registered marginal increase of 0.3% year-on-year in real terms in the first quarter.
