Total Europe’s New Car Registrations recover In April
(RTTNews) - New car registrations in total Europe rose 9.6% year-on-year to 1,420,944 in April, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, or ACEA, reported Friday. In March, registrations fell 9.5%.
According to ACEA, most European countries benefited from two to three additional working days, which helped the majority of markets post a growth in new car registrations despite the US financial crisis and further increases in fuel prices.
Registrations in the EU15 rose 9.4% on an annual basis to 1,275,546. In the Western Europe, it rose 9.5%.
The ACEA reported that France recorded 15% higher registrations and the number amounted to 198,558 units. Adjusted for working days, the rise was 4.6%, in line with the 4.8% growth observed from January to April compared with the same period last year.
Further, the association said that the German market is recovering from a weak performance in 2007, posting an annual increase of 20% to 317,960 registrations.
