Swiss unemployment rises in August
(RTTNews) - Switzerland’s unemployment increased in August compared with July, a report by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs or SECO said Monday. However, on a yearly basis, it declined.
Unemployment increased 2.4% in August compared with a 2.3% rise in July. This was in line with analysts’ expectations. The number of the unemployed increased by 1876 to 94039.
The unemployment for the youth aged between 15 and 24 increased 13.3% or 1965 to 16765. On a yearly basis,unemployment for this category fell 10.2% for the month.
Meanwhile, the number of job seekers totaled 143549, which is 249 less than the previous month.
On a yearly basis, unemployment fell 6.7% compared with the previous year. Job vacancies fell 8.1% or by 12688 persons compared with the previous year.
