Lithuanian trade deficit narrows in August
(RTTNews) - Friday, Statistics Lithuania said the trade deficit decreased to LTL 1 billion in August from a revised deficit of LTL 1.41 billion in July. In August the previous year, the trade deficit amounted to LTL 1.4 billion.
Total exports increased 26.4% year-on-year to LTL 4.97 billion in August, while imports rose 12.2% to EUR 5.98 billion. In July, exports were valued a revised LTL 5.3 billion, and imports totaled LTL 6.7 billion.
Month-on-month, exports declined an unadjusted 6.2% in August, while imports fell 10.9%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, exports increased 2.3% while imports rose 0.2%.
In the January-August period, the trade deficit totaled LTL 11.9 billion. Exports amounted to LTL 37.8 billion, while imports totaled LTL 49.7 billion.
